Thomas Verbal

Designer and researcher, bilingual French and Spanish, Thomas Verbal teaches creative ways to think and make projects. He studied Design at ELISAVA Barcelona School of Design and Engineering, and he obtained a Master in Visual Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London. 
As a designer, Thomas is specialised in the areas of editorial and audio-visual design, with experience in developing projects for local and international clients from the educational, cultural and environmental sectors. As a researcher, Thomas uses inventive ethnographic methods to observe, represent and intervene in the social world. His research interests focus on urban life, craft, object uses, critical design, as well as the implementation of visual, sensory and participatory methods in creative and social projects. His latest works explore the practice of reuse (2017) and the visual depiction of a street (2020).
Since 2018, Thomas has taught Art and Design in Beijing, with a particular interest for project-based learning and design methodologies. His will for a structured experimentation has enabled his students to make the most of themselves.
