Liam Yeates


Liam Yeates completed an MA in Visual Performance at Dartington College of art and a Post Graduate Certificate in Art and Design at The University of Greenwich, London. He has over ten years experience as an arts educator within Further Education and Adult Education. As well as spending his initial teacher training year teaching Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Arts Foundation Liam has also taught Art and Design on the level one and two BTEC courses at Southwark and Lewisham College in South East London. Over the years, Liam has also developed an interest in Arts education through teaching art to autistic adults, as well as working with East London youth clubs developing mural painting projects.
Liam has also been a freelance carpenter for the past fifteen years, working on various environmental projects with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. He has experience in running Eco design and build projects, working mainly with volunteers from the corporate world. Designs and Building projects include: compost toilets, Geodomes, shelters and greenhouses. Alongside the Eco projects he has also worked extensively with corporate and arts organisations to install and build exhibitions as well as artists installations. 
Liam has been a practicing artist for over 30 years. Working within different mediums, including: drawing, painting, installation, sculpture, video and performance art. Initially he trained in Fine Art, specialising in oil painting. Whilst developing light shows for bands and clubs in Bristol (UK) in the late eighties early nineties his artistic focus shifted more towards installation and performance art. Currently he is developing artworks through drawing and installation. 
As he comes from a varied arts background he brings a lot of practical as well as theoretical skills he has learnt over the years working within the corporate and art worlds. He is a firm believer in encouraging students to question their processes when creating art.
