Charlie Dutton

Charlie Dutton is the Director of the new BACA Art Centre, an exciting new addition to the Beijing art scene, housing the Nook Gallery, a theatre which will show films, performances and talks and a program of short course and evening classes, for adult and children. He also heads the lens based media department and has taught on most courses at BACA and also runs the International Artist in Residence program held at BACA.
He has over 10 years teaching and lecturing experience in UK, India and Rwanda. He has taught at City of London School for boys, has been guest lecturer at UAL and other schools and collages in UK and while worked with children with special needs he feel art should be available to all and will bring this ethos to the Art Centre.

essential start for any young creative person who want to enter the art Industry, its crucial for self-expression and discovering an individual creative visual language.”
Charlie is a practicing Artist that works with photography and painting, exhibiting internationally and he works with alternative photographic techniques such as Cyanotype and Photograms.
He also has a background of professional photography and curating where he ran his own gallery for 5 years in Holborn, Central London (Charlie Dutton Gallery), exhibiting over 400 artists, selling work to major public and private collectors globally. The gallery specialized
 in giving emerging artists and recent graduates a platform to show their work. He ran the prestigious Crash Open Salon competitions, which was judged by well know artists and cultural commentators.
With his background of the international art scene he has a good knowledge of Curating and the Creative Economy, he is currently working on a book. He achieved a BA (hons) in Fine Art and Postgraduate in Photography both at Central St Martins.
