Ronald Tau

Ronald Tau is a multidisciplinary art director and designer specializing in culture, lifestyle, and fashion. Born in Hong Kong, raised in Toronto, relocated to Beijing, Ronald revels in crossing cultural borders through creativity and design.
His career started as a graphic designer at Ogilvy Beijing, evolving into an art director at Beijing studio JOYN:VISCOM. Today Ronald runs his own design studio (Meat) consulting in art direction and graphic design for many fashion brands.
Ronald’s work has been featured in numerous international design festivals, exhibitions and awards such as Tokyo Type Director’s Club (Tokyo, Japan), and Global Type (Basel, Switzerland), etc. Ronald has given lectures at CAFA and York University in Toronto, Canada.
Visual communication lies at the core for all creative disciplines, effective and efficient communication assists students to better express themselves and deliver more powerful work. It is in this light that Ronald leads the Digital Workshop class for BACA FAD. Having worked with numerous local and international brands, designers, and cultural organizations, Ronald is a committed professional practitioner in using graphic design and art direction to build connections. In BACA, he shares these experiences through short, digestible lectures for design basics, and runs workshops where students are tasked with a range of succinct creative briefs, allowing them to flex their creative muscles and practice their design language, whilst constantly giving one on one tutorials and feedback.
Ronald sees many parallels in running a design studio and a workshop class in school. It’s all about mutual communication and inspiration, finding more efficient and effective ways to create designs, and having fun.
